Is That Weight Coming Off?

I thought I would update to let you know how my weight loss plan is fairing.

Just as a recap, I don't believe in pursuing one of those crash diets, so I decided that I won't be pursing that as I simply can't keep that regime up. What's more it makes me miserable and I can't have that! I want to lose weight and then keep it off.

Well it's not too bad - there is always room for improvement. I'm certainly not perfect and I haven't lost much weight so far - a couple of pounds. But in my case, its keeping of those chocolates and cake bars. This is where I'm finding I need alternatives - and I have found something that keeps me going until meal times. I have a variety of nuts and I can pick at these when I need a snack - but I have to keep a count of the calories! So just as a rough guide, I know that a 100g of nuts can range approximately 600 - 700 kcal - so a little high, but they do have a certain amount of protein which helps me as I'm mostly vegetarian. I also have a stash of those cereal bars - but in all honesty I'm not keen on those. I'd rather have some fruit.

So what has been going well for me? I've been exercising regularly which is a positive. I've noticed that if I go for a brisk walk I don't get out of breath. Bye the way, I exercise at home for about 30 to 40 minutes per day. I don't go to a gym because I reckon it takes about 15 minutes to get there! So I figured why not just do the 30 minutes at home! Let's be frank here, I do find it boring going to those gym's whereas at home I can watch whatever I want (example DVD's).

Anyway, the point about this article was detox'ing - Its something I always think about doing as part of my new year resolution in January. What does it actually mean? Well everyone has there own view, but for me its trying to stay of the alcohol and drinking your 8 glasses of water a day. Now this theme about drinking water - does it have to be water? What I'm getting at is, can it be a cup of tea? I've seen articles on this and I've asked a medic about this. I've been told it makes no difference - so there you have it. Let's face it, it is boring drinking water - well I find it boring, but I do like my tea!

I did a quick calorie count of myself over the weekend and here it is (Note all figures are approximate). I don't like to get too hung up on these numbers.

Breakfast & Juice (300)
Lunch - Sandwiches (800)
cake bar (175)
Beverages (Tea) (100)
Evening meal (1100). This is an estimate, curried vegetable and daal, 2 pieces
of cheese bread.

40 minutes exercise - I reckon to work of 200-300 calories.

Not great, but I'm on the limit for loosing a small amount of weight, but I'm gaining muscles - mainly on my legs. This will help with burning off more calories - after all, I need all the help I can get :-)
